"She's a New Haven Lass!"

It's been over a year…A YEAR…since I sent out an update. I wish I had some brilliant excuse, other than "I'm busy." Wah Wah.

I spent the summer at Yale School of Drama studying Directing for the the-ay-ter. It was like spending the summer at Hogwarts, and the most positive learning experience I've ever had, and I'm anxious to head back next summer for Part Two!

After Yale I headed up to Ogunquit Playhouse where I worked with the children in the main stage production of "Joseph…" starring Clay Aiken, and then I directed two of their children's shows. It was a beautiful place to work, 5 minutes from the beach and 5 minutes from the trees. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect summer!

WTFU Wins Again!

I'm so excited to inform y'all that WTFU took home two awards this week at the iTVfest (International Television Festival, LA): BEST ACTRESS to our fearless leader, Allison Lane, who wrote, directed, produced, starred, key gripped, sound designed and edited our little ditty and....drum roll please...BEST COMEDY PILOT!! Who says you can't make magic on an $800 budget!!!

I also had the privilege of walking the runway in some fabulous designs in the Celebrity Fashion Show.

Since iTVfest was part of PopConLA this year, we also got to do cool things like hang out with R2D2 and Lando Calrissian (who looks damn good for 75!)

Time Flies

Have I really not posted an update since the end of January? Shame on me!

In March I moved into the West Hollywood area. It's the first time I've lived in a house in 12 years!!! I get woken up by the birds now instead of my arguing neighbors! Problem is the birds seem to be in heat and chirp all night long. I'm told this happens in spring..

A few years back I hosted an instructional video titled "How to Apply to the College of Your Choice" and I'm happy to report that it's now currently airing nationwide on PBS.

I took a trip to NYC in April to participate in a reading of a feature by the same writers/creators of the award-winning WTFU. The WTFU cast reunited for the reading and it was great to see everyone again!

Pulp Shakespeare was extended three times before it completed it's run on March 31. It will be playing the New York Fringe Festival in August. Congrats to the cast and crew and a great LA run!

In February I served as a judge for the Irene Ryan Acting Competition at the Kennedy Center's American College Theater Festival. (Try saying that 10 times fast!) I also got to see three productions and teach two workshops while I was there. It was such a rewarding experience for a theater geek such as myself.

Long Live the Boob Apron

Happy 2012!!!! You will all be very happy to know that your breasts will be warm and modestly covered for another year. Cami Secret was just renewed through the end of 2012!

Who doesn't like a little Shakespeare and a little Tarantino to start off the year? I'm currently appearing in Pulp Shakespeare at Theater Asylum through March 3. Pulp Shakespeare is Pulp Fiction set in Elizabethian England in iambic pentameter. The production won Best Play in the 2011 Hollywood Fringe, played two sold out runs and is now in it's 3rd run. Does Your Cow Have Pink Eye?

Well then it's a good thing I just booked and shot a commerical for Vetericyn! Yes, I shot a commercial...for a really fantastic company and we had a great time shooting it. It involved driving 3 hours south to Esconditio in the pouring and I mean POURING rain, but we had such a great time on set that it didn't matter. And in case you're wondering Vetericyn is this fabulous product that can be used on ALL animals (not just your cow) for pretty much anything. It was great to have the opportunity to appear in an ad for a product I really believe in. The commerical should be viral in 6 weeks, so I'll be sure to send you a link when that happens!

In other news, I signed across the board with Malibu Artists Agency in mid-September.

My blog is going strong and I can't thank you all enough for taking the time to read it and leave comments. I just completed a 30 Day Yoga Challenge and blogged about that experience. You can learn a lot in a two hour commute...

I am writing this update from the final dress rehearsal of OC Centric (Orange County's New Play Festival). I directed a piece for the festival titled Sex, Love and Premature Evacuation and we open tomorrow night. I couldn't be more proud of my cast, and it's been a truly wonderful experience. The not so wonderful part? The two hour commute from LA every day this week. However, I've caught up on my RISK! and Oprah podcasts, and I've "read" two books in the process. If you live or work in the Orange County area, I'd love for you to come see it.

I'm also really excited to announce that I have finally updated the media page of my website. It now includes separate Commercial and Theatrical reels, as well as clips from interviews and some theater excerpts. I've also updated my Directing page.

In an attempt to find balance, loose the tummy flab I seem to have acquired since moving here, and have arms like Jennifer Aniston, I decided to tackle #20 on the 101 list and start a 30 Day Yoga Challenge. Every week when I sit down to write my blog I wonder if anyone is actually reading it, and if what I'm writing about is of any interest to anyone other than me. Well, my very talented and funny WTFU co-star Erin Cronican apparently finds it interesting because she quoted my blog in her latest article for Playbills vs. Paying Bills. I'm so flattered! Having said that, if there is a topic or activity you'd like me to blog about, let me know. I'm always up for suggestions!

Speaking of WTFU, we won again! This time we took home Best TV Pilot at the Hoboken International Film Festival! We are so excited! And speaking of Festivals, I recently attending the High Desert Shorts International Film Festival in Pahrump with WTFU creators Allison Lane and Chris Ritter. We had such a great time and met some really fantastic film makers!

Last month I shot a print ad for a super top secret communications company. The campaign was shot by my good friend Matt, and we had a blast running around LA. Matt and I met when we were cast in a production of The Matchmaker at Sierra Madre Playhouse. I was a young, impressionable girl of 13 and Matt was the much older and wiser cradle robber of 17. We used to make out in the parking lot during intermission. Scandalous! The shoot also involved a fellow actor accidentally pants-ing a group of missionaries. Most fun I've had on set in a long time!

I am happy to announce that I will be directing a short play that is part of the OC Centric New Play Festival in Orange County. The festival plays in August and as soon as I have more details I'll post them! Meanwhile, we are holding auditions on June 22 in Los Angeles, so non-union actors email me for info!

Old news is good news

Well it's old news now, but in mid January I packed my boxes, 17 of them to be exact, gave way too much money to UPS to ship them across the country, and moved to Los Angeles. I have had a torrid love affair with NYC for the past 11 years, but after five snow storms in two months, 16 feet of snow, and the third worst winter on record, I was done. Time to move on to bigger and warmer pastures. And bigger and warmer they are. Sweating and getting sun burnt in the middle of February is a welcome change. You might be void of culture, vapid, and aloof, but LA, I could get used to you.

I wouldn't be an actor in LA if I didn't have a blog. Jeffrey Above Sea Level (yes, that's the name of it), was launched back in February. I currently have a 101 in 1001 LA activity challenge, but I only have 56 activities and welcome any suggestions. Subscribe! Make suggestions! (If you subscribed back in February I've switched it to a TypePad account, so you'll have to resubscribe)

In WTFU news, we are playing the country! WTFU is an official selection in the Laugh Out Loud Short Film Festival. This is a traveling festival that screens in theaters across the country. Dates and locations will be announced soon. Also, on Memorial Day weekend, WTFU will be appearing in the High Desert Shorts International Film Festival in Pahrump, Nevada. I'm excited about this festival because it's in a town named Pahrump, and that's just fun to say. If you happen to be in the Vegas/High Desert area, come see us!

You know spring is in the air when I start getting phone calls from friends asking how my tomatoes grew so large. It means the Topsy Turvy Tomato Plant commercial is airing again. Which means I now have three commercials airing nationally. The Cami Secret is still going strong, thanks mostly to the parody from comedic genius Nick Stevens. So strong in fact, that I have been receiving fan mail. Yes, fan mail, mostly from men...asking for dates, but hell, that's more than most can say, and I am honestly grateful for all the exposure this silly commercial has brought me. Back in January my friend Todd Montgomery and I got together and created a video response to my legions of fans (all 9 of them.) You can view this masterpiece here:

We WON!! We WON!!

I am so thrilled to announce that WTFU is now a MULTI-AWARD WINNING film! We recently won Best Comedic Short at the Illinois International Film Festival in Chicago, and Best Ensemble Cast at the Houston Comedy Film Festival! Congrats to the cast and crew and especially to film makers Allison Lane and Chris Ritter!

It's a Festivus for the rest of us

Ok, so clearly I am stretching for titles with the word festival in it. But I am super happy and exited to announce that WTFU, the pilot I shot with the lovely peeps at Reel Spiel Productions played to a SOLD OUT crowd at the Downtown Short Film Festival in New York on September 25, and received a great response at the LA Comedy Festival on November 4. It will also be playing at the Illinois International Film Festival in Chicago on November 7 at 1pm. More festival dates for 2011 will be announced shortly! In the meantime, you can catch the trailer here. (Of which I'm only in for a nanosecond, but it's a very memorable nanosecond) ;)

This past week I reunited with the guys over at Grey Sky Films to shoot a commercial for Picatinny Federal Credit Union. We had a great time and came up with many mispronunciations for the word "Picatinny". The commercial is scheduled to start airing sometime in early December.

Speaking of commercials, the Cami Secret is still inundating the air waves. A Facebook Fan Page has been created, and people I don't even know are fans!!! I'm also in the process of collaborating with Nick Stevens, the comedian who wrote the You Tube "Boob Apron" parody that has over two million hits!!



The Fantasticks completed it's run on September 25. According to one local reviewer, I played the Mute "brilliantly." It's the first show I've ever choreographed, rehearsed and put up in one week (ah, regional theater), and a huge kudos to the cast and crew for all their hard work.

Being the big theater dork that I am, I just returned from London, where I spent three weeks studying Shakespeare at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. It was an amazing experience that I had the privilege of sharing with some truly wonderful classmates. I am so grateful for the time I had there and I can't wait to do more!


Prior to leaving for London, I shot a pilot for a new TV series with the lovely people over at Reel Spiel Productions. And that's all I'm allowed to say about it. I will say that the shoot involved us taking the LIRR at 3am and my character coaxing an assistant into their underwear. Needless to say, it was VERY fun shoot and I can't wait to see the finished product!





I am very excited to announce that I will be playing The Mute in The Fantasticks at Live Arts Maryland. I'm also going to be doing the Musical Staging! Performances are in late September. I'll post more info as soon as it becomes available.



Finally, this coming Sunday I will be performing in a reading of the play, Covered Girl. Written by my friend Aaron Davis, Covered Girl explores the relationship of a troubled teenager and an American songwriter following the events on 9/11. The play was one of the finalists in the New Works of Merit Playwright Contest and is being presented at the 13th Street Repertory on Sunday, August 22 at 4pm . Free admission!

"You wish to go to the festival?"

So maybe it's not "the Kiiiing's festival" (apologies to all my non Musical Theater friends who are scratching their heads at that reference) but I am going to be in the Santa Fe Three Minute Film Festival on May 22! My friend Allison Lane submitted The Dentist, a short film we shot a couple years ago, to the Festival and we were accepted! AND I also now have an official IMDB page! Woo Hoo! Also on May 22, I'll be performing in the New Bedford Festival Theater's 20th Anniversary Gala. As most of you know, I met my husband, David, while performing in Jekyll and Hyde at NBFT, so it holds a special place in my heart. Happen to be in the New Bedford area on May 22? Earlier this month David and I had the privilege of performing in a reading of National Pastime at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. To be able to combine our love of Musical Theater and Baseball into one trip was pretty awesome. (Yes, I realize that makes us complete and total dorks.) We had so much fun and got to spend time with such an amazing cast and crew.

I also did a shoot in April with the fabulous photographers at PM Images. Photos from the shoot should be up on the website within the next week.

Allison's Secret

Happy Spring!

My latest commercial, the Cami Secret, is now airing nationwide. The Cami Secret is a modern day version of the Dickie that covers up cleavage. Now why on earth would you want to do that? In the commercial I get to sport an unattractive bra and then repeatedly cover up the only thing that makes the bra look good. My favorite shot is where I catch my "creepy" boss (the Snuggie guy, who also played my husband in the Prayer Cross commercial) staring down my top and I'm "mortified". Me (and my modest boobies), coming to a television near you this Easter.

This past month I got to participate in two really cool projects. (Is "cool" a word of the 90's? Am I dating myself?) I performed in a reading of a new musical called National Pastime. The show is about a radio station in the 30's that makes up a non-existent baseball team and then broadcasts the fake games to help boost ratings. It's a cute piece with a great cast and we'll be performing it again in Cooperstown in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in May!

I was also privileged to sing in the Broadway Choir of Sondheim: The Birthday Concert at Lincoln Center. The choir consisted of over 300 members of the Broadway community lining the stage, aisles and tiers of Avery Fisher Hall while we sang "Sunday" from Sunday in the Park with George as the concert's finale. It was an awesome experience and the audience's reaction was priceless. The concert will air on PBS in 2011.

In December I sang at the Borough Hall Tree Lighting Ceremony in Brooklyn with the Elixer Opera Company. I got meet the Borough president and everything!

Back in January I performed in a benefit for Haiti with the Cinder Block Theater Company. It was a fun evening filled with singers and comics at Jimmy's No. 43, and all the proceeds benefited AmeriCares.

I entered a modeling contest (yes, laugh). It's to be the Face of e.l.f. Cosmetics for 2010. Well, I'm doing pretty darn good in this contest thanks to some very supportive friends and family. In early November I participated in Small Pond Entertainment's Musical Theater Writing Lab Workshop. The event randomly paired 12 composers, lyricists and bookwriters, and they were given the challenge to write a 10 minute musical in one week and then performing it the following week. I ended up performing in a modern retelling of Orpheus and the Nymph, playing a cracked out, burlesque dancing Eurydice. A good time was had by all.

The AFSP walk went really well. Our team ended up raising $1797.00 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Thanks to all who donated or came out to walk!

On November 9, I did an Improv performance at The P.I.T. It was awesome! I'll be doing more performances in 2010, stay tuned for dates!

In mid-November I shot a commercial for the Necky. Yes, the Necky. It's a scarf like contraption from the makers of the Snuggie. They wanted to call it the Snecky, but that name was already taken. Which makes me ask, taken by who??!!! A hicky covering contraption?? Anywho, the product is due out for the holidays, so images of me getting my "traditional scarf" hopelessly trapped in a car door should be inundating your televisions soon.

In Little Red's news, Little Red has decided to take a permanent holiday to Granny's. In honor of his mother, Maggie O'Neill, I will be joining my good friend Billy Steeves this fall to walk in AFSP's Out of the Darkness Community Walk. This walk benefits the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Billy lost his mother to suicide two years ago when she lost a lifelong struggle with mental illness. The loss was devastating for him and he found support through the resources of AFSP.If you'd like to make a donation, please click here.

My Day Job Rocks!

Squiggy and the Goldfish successfully completed its run at The Workshop Theatre on May 30th. We opened to great reviews and the show and cast have been nominated for several NY Innovative Theater Awards. Congratulations to the cast and crew for a job well done and I’m happy to have been a part of it.

In May, I had the honor of performing in a workshop of Tina Girlstar, a new musical composed by my very talented friend Brian Feinstein (Mimi Le Duck). The musical will be produced this summer at New York Stage and Film.

David, along with Nicole Brewer and Damien Gurganious of Biggest Loser: Couples won a contest through his new gym, and the prize was a really cool Yankee package. We got to go on the field for batting practice, where we met all the players, all of whom were very gracious and generous with their time. Then we got to have dinner at the NY Steakhouse (on the Yankees!) and watch the game from the Main Loge!

This month, after The Daily Show with John Stewart, you can look for me in a Microsoft commercial for their new search engine, Bing. Honestly, I don’t know exactly what it is, or understand what it does, but I’m in it, and the check’s in the bank!

Finally, a huge congratulations to the cast and crew of Billy Elliot on Broadway. The show took home 10 Tony Awards this month, including Best Musical, Best Actor (the Billy’s!) and Best Supporting Actor (the gracious and accomplished Greg Jbara). I feel so privileged to work with such brilliant performers and a dedicated crew. As I was standing in the wings the other night watching them manipulate the giant Maggie Thatcher puppet, I thought to myself, “My day job rocks!”

Monkeys and Agents and Strippers, Oh My!

So, clearly I suck at updating my website.  It’s been a whirlwind couple of months and I’m just now finding the time to sit down and write. In October, I started rehearsals for White Christmas on Broadway working as a child wrangler. Witnessing the creative and technical process with such a talented and dedicated cast was an exceptional experience. In the flurry of all the holiday madness, I also managed to shoot a commercial for Invisibelt.

After spending three months in a “White Christmas” (literally!), I was ready for a vacation, so David and I headed to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. It was an interesting experience…to say the least. After which, I wrote a less than flattering review on TripAdvisor. However, I was grateful for the time I got to spend with David and Brenda the Monkey.

In February I suddenly found myself as parent to 22 children (take that Octomom!!) Seeing as they were the adorable and frighteningly talented cast members of Billy Elliot, I don’t have to worry about stretch marks. It has reunited me with my friend Bobby Wilson, the Founding Father of Modern Day Child Wrangling, with whom I worked with on La Boheme.  In addition to fostering the youth of Broadway, I was accepted into Wynn Handman’s Acting Class. I’m so honored to be working with such a legend and to be studying with fellow actors who further inspire me.

In March, I started working with the Fifi Oscard Agency. Can I tell you how excited I am to have the same agent as William Shatner?!?! Since then, I booked a print job for Egg Baby Clothing and shot an episode for the web series Morning Bitch, where I played an underage stripper at an all-redhead strip club. My career is looking up!

Early this month, I went to Houston to see my talented husband, David Weitzer and my good friend Andrea Rivette in Les Miserables at Theater Under the Stars in Houston. It was a great production and I was so proud of them both!

I’m also excited to be Assistant Directing a production of Squiggy and the Goldfish with Michael Roderick, who is one of the co-producers of ROOMS, off-Broadway. The production will be performed at the Workshop Theater in New York City in May. Stay tuned for more details.

Welcome to my NEW SITE!!

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to my brand new website (designed by the fabulous James Donegan) and my new blog. Lots of changes have been happening, so I thought I'd celebrate them with a new website. Here are some exciting things going on in my career at the moment:

I've spent several days this past summer shooting commercials for Blue Moon Studios, and will be visiting them again later this week to shoot another. Look for me this fall in commercials for Strap Happy and a Cross Necklace (I can't wait to see the YouTube parodies!)

In early September I participated in the Wings Theater's 24 Hour Play Festival, where plays were written, cast and performed all within 24 hours. Our play took place on the Second Star to the Left and I played a bitter and washed up Peter Pan. I had an absolute blast, and had the privilege of working with the talented Scott Casper of the DARE Project.

I had the honor of working with the talented people over at Reel Speil Productions again, and I am appearing in a webisode of Obama or Yo Mama, which will be airing the week of October 4. Check it out at: http://www.obamaoryourmama.com/ep2.html

In Little Red's news, I'm pleased to announce that we have a brand new website, and will soon be able to accept credit card payments. Little Red's has gone green, and this holiday season we will have a whole new look and feature packaging that is earth friendly.
